Artist Bio

Ryan Werner (b. Bay Area, California) is a contemporary artist whose work explores the emotional language of color and abstraction. Trained at the University of Redlands in Fine Art, Werner developed a practice rooted in bold, vibrant figuration that blurs the line between the familiar and the surreal.
Influenced by artists such as Francis Bacon, Franz Marc, Kandinsky, and Hilma af Klint, Werner’s paintings channel a tradition of modern abstraction while pushing it into a distinctly personal realm. His canvases are marked by fluid distortions, layered color fields, and forms that evoke both playful curiosity and wonder.
Werner describes his practice as an act of transformation, turning chaos and emotion into energy and form. Each piece is intended to provoke curiosity, invite confidence, and confront the viewer with a sense of the unexpected.
His first solo presentation was hosted during his senior year, showcasing four years of studio work, and his art has since evolved into a body of work characterized by unapologetic experimentation and fearless color, exhibited throughout Los Angeles where he currently resides.
Today, Werner continues to build a practice committed to pushing boundaries, guided by the belief that art should not replicate the world we know, but reveal the one we have yet to imagine.
